Reader, I honestly can't believe we're heading into the end-of-year holiday madness, uh... cue the meltdown month. I'm just joking (mostly). Or that hosting a dinner or ANY KIND OF TRAVEL, while fabulously fun, turned me into a raging lunatic. I didn't address my anxiety for A LONG TIME, because I didn't know what was happening. We're changing that for our kids today. And if you grew up being told you had a “chemical imbalance” or if adults whispered about your "happy pill" like it was some moral failing, this is for you. You aren't "the problem." If you ever wondered why you couldn't keep up adult expectations as a kid, even though you tried your best to please everyone... Or if the best way to stay OUT of trouble was to disappear, you probably felt anxious but had no language for it! 🤔 And if you see the same signs in your child, don't let anyone tell you you’re imagining it. We often put mental health in the backseat. Performance, productivity, and precision all drive the show in our modern world. I DO have more power over my responses than I thought. But how much can we really change? This conversation isn’t a tidy wellness lecture.
