Is it a message or a meltdown? 🤔

I'm so grateful for all the well wishes for my surgery!! 🙏🏼 Thank you!!

It's nerve-wracking for sure, but by the time you read this, I hope I'm on my way to healing after years of vertigo, hearing loss, and other icky symptoms. Even though I'll be out for a bit, I've got all kinds of things scheduled for you while I'm away! 🫶🏼 Lori

Kids are often blamed for behaviors they're using to soothe and regulate themselves.

  • Constant movement/talking.
  • Not starting projects.
  • Being late.
  • Impulsive behaviors.

These come from an internal state of dysregulation/distress, which kids (and adults) can't always express in words. 🥴

If they could say, "Hey, I'm running around the room and can't stop because it feels good and standing still makes me want to crawl out of my skin," — they would.

💬 We know behavior is also communication - but do you speak ADHD?

Try not to let anyone scare you by saying conscious (aka: respectful) parenting doesn't work for ADHD.

Like many late-diagnosed women, I was well into my 30s before I knew about my neurodivergent brain. The support and established strategies we have NOW were not available to my parents.

So what a GIFT it is to be able to help our kids thrive peacefully—without ongoing power struggles.

I won't pretend you can wave a magic wand and make everything easy-peasy.

🔎 Parenting neurodivergent kids comes with unique challenges—YES! And the strategies our kids respond to are constantly evolving (so we have to stay curious).

While we aren't in control of their reactions, we CAN teach them to understand and regulate their own responses!

I love searching out the most practical events, tips, and "do-over" tools (b/c everyone deserves a 2nd chance) that you can use to reimagine your home and family.
